Aries (March 21 – April 19)

Proud Aries, our first fire sign, likes it served up hot with bold ingredients such as chilies, barbecue sauce, or garlic, washed down with a peppery, aromatic Syrah. Since Aries have a tendency to lose interest quickly, a multi-course meal is likely to hold more appeal than a single entrée. Or, try an interactive dish, like fondue. Who could get bored of fondue, especially chocolate?!

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

One might not immediately associate sensuality or luxury with The Bull. However, those born under the Taurus sign associate great emotional pleasure with good food. Try rich and savory bites like juicy cuts of beef, or a decadent chocolate dessert accompanied with a full-bodied Cabernet.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Gemini is known as the conversationalist of the group — perfect for a dinner party! In general, Gemini aren’t picky eaters, but they do have a penchant for novelty, making international foods particularly appealing to The Twins. They might also enjoy a nice lively Pinot Grigio.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Comfort food come hither! Ruling over the home and tradition, this sign is known for creating a sense of comfort and belonging. They enjoy intimate, cozy surroundings. Claim a spot on the couch with a French Onion Soup and a luscious Grenache; you won’t be sorry.

Leo (July 23 – August 22)

Leos are lovers of lavish abundance, sumptuous meals, and the spotlight. Their table should offer strong, rich flavors, such as curries and caviar, and their cups should be filled with a classic, well-aged Bordeaux. When the wine runs out, have them sing some karaoke or take a twirl around the dining room; you won’t hear any objections from any Leos in the room!

Virgo (August 23 – September 22)

The earth sign Virgo is a purist and naturalist who is most likely to be found in the granola section of Whole Foods. They are well versed in the origins of food and expect a certain quality of the bites they choose to eat. A fresh green salad paired with a crisp Rielsing is a good match for this sign.

Libra (September 23 – October 22)

Libra is the sweet tooth of the celestial bunch, with a tasting style that is slow, thoughtful, and exploratory. They seek harmony and balance, and welcome any chance to relate to others. Their favorite pairing might include a complex stew with a vintage white Burgundy, finished with a tropical fruit dessert.

Scorpio (October 23 – November 21)

Scorpios have an intense love affair with food. Their intensity is rivaled by that of the Taurus but the taste buds of a Scorpio are much more complex and adept at tasting richness. Their shopping list might include green onion, Roquefort cheese, chives, cloves, parsley, coriander, and a spicy red wine, such as a Malbec.

Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21)

Sagittarians are world travelers who enjoy fragrant, exotic foods. They enjoy the unfamiliar and are excited by the notion of trying something international. Moroccan tagines or Indian stews would be a good place to start. Pair the meal with a full-bodied red wine such as Cotes-du-Rhone.

Capricorn (December 22 – January 19)

A traditional eater, the Capricorn is observant and perhaps status-conscious in their habits. They sit farther out on the wine and liquor end of the spectrum, meaning they enjoy reputable tannic wines such as Napa Valley Cabernets.

Aquarius (January 20 – February 18)

An Aquarian would be great addition to your dinner party, as they feel right at home in social settings. While their tasting style is inquisitive, they are not exactly adventurous. They do however enjoy bracing foods such as sour cherry or meals that have a ‘build your own’ aspect to them. Consider a glass of dry white Albarino from Spain.

Pisces (February 19 – March 20)

A love of all things seafood defines the Pisces palate. This is one of the most creative signs of the zodiac and will probably appreciate a good plate presentation. They prefer milder flavors but do enjoy a spicy, not-too-tannic Mediterranean wine, such as a Monastrell.
